Disney classics are certainly classics for a reason. While that makes fans excited for potential sequels to their favorite movies, it also puts a lot of pressure on the sequels that can be hard to live up to. It’s understandable, as a result, that it can be difficult to know whether making a Disney sequel for any given movie is actually a good idea. Some Disney sequels have gone over well and become classics in their own right, like Frozen II, Toy Story 2, or An Extremely Goofy Movie. Other beloved Disney classics have sequels that you may have never even heard of, like Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True, The Fox and the Hound 2, and even a Tarzan prequel called Tarzan 2: The Legend Begins. Yes – those all actually exist, and there are plenty more where that came from. Since some sequels definitely go over better than others and some don’t make much of a splash, at all, it’s safe to say that not even the most popular Disney movies necessarily warrant a follow-up. You may be surprised to find out just how many Disney classics were very close to getting sequels. From Pinocchio to Mulan even to The Nightmare Before Christmas, some of our favorite movies of all time had sequels in the works that never actually made it to our screens. If you, like us, are curious how our favorite stories were meant to continue and what stopped them, you’re going to love this video.
