www.cbr.com/disney-repurpose-new-films-streaming/Bob Iger, the former CEO and current executive chairman of Disney, recently spoke about the status of film studio's upcoming slate of films, which has seen some dramatic reshuffling in response to the global crisis.
The most seismic announcement was for Artemis Fowl, which will forgo the movie theaters and head straight to Disney+. According to Iger, it may not be the last to skip the theatrical experience. "There may be a few more that we end up putting directly onto Disney+," Iger told Barrons. "But for the most part a lot of the big tentpole Disney films, we'll simply wait for slots."
Iger also pointed out that there is a middle ground. Some movies will still premiere in theaters but move to the streaming service much sooner than usually expected. Disney did this with Frozen II, which premiered on Disney+ three weeks before it was supposed to, and Onward, which is now available to stream just over a month after opening in theaters.
Here’s Why ‘The New Mutants’ Likely Can’t Be Released On Hulu Or Disney+

mcucosmic.com/2020/04/06/disney-france-lists-loki-and-what-if-for-2021-hawkeye-ms-marvel-she-hulk-and-moon-knight-for-2022/With the shifting of the whole MCU slate, people have been wondering what’s going to happen with the upcoming Disney+ series. If they will move along with those movies, and if the the order of their release will be affected with Black Widow‘s delay due to them being so closely connected with the films.
Disney+ just launched in many parts of Western Europe and earlier this month (prior to the movie dates being changed), Disney+ France issued a press release detailing the future of the series. There are some real surprises in this, if these dates end up to be accurate. It’s always possible these have changed from the time the press release was created and the MCU slate was shifted. But here’s what Disney+ France lists for the MCU series dates.
2020 lists The Falcon and The Winter Solider and WandaVision. Loki and What If…? are 2021. Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight are later in 2022.
Marvel Delays Black Widow to November, Eternals to February 2021
www.superherohype.com/movies/480071-disney-delays-black-widow-to-november-eternals-to-february-2021In a perfect world, Black Widow would have kicked off the summer movie season next month. Now, Marvel has finally set a new date for the titular superspy’s long-awaited spinoff. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Black Widow will hit theaters on November 6.
This is the date that was going to be occupied by Eternals. This switch is triggering a domino effect on Marvel’s entire Phase Four slate. Eternals now arrives three months later on February 12, 2021. Similarly, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings vacates its original February premiere and replaces Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 7, 2021. The Doctor Strange sequel later arrives on November 5, 2021 and consequently pushes Thor: Love and Thunder to February 18, 2022.
Fortunately, not all upcoming Marvel films are getting moved around. THR notes that Black Panther 2 is still coming out on May 6, 2022. Disney and Marvel have also decided to move the release of Captain Marvel 2 up two weeks to July 8, 2022. Surprisingly, the report makes no mention of whether Spider-Man 3’s July 16, 2021 release date is changing. But that will probably be left for Sony to decide.
