Cruella Behind The Scenes: Disney's Live Action CGI, Costumes, Music, Animals, And Acting! Cruella De Vil is back - and this time, we get to see how Cruella went from being Estella to the famous supervillain we love to hate. There are so many aspects of the production that had to come together perfectly to make this Disney magic happen. How did Emma Stone step into this iconic role? She actually had some help from former Cruella and executive producer on the film Glenn Close herself! The costumes of course play a major part - award-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan took inspiration from looks throughout the years to create fashion to show the journey of Cruella becoming who she is. As for the fiery fashion bits we see - yes, we’re talking about when Stone lights her white cape on fire - considering how elaborate the costumes were, no real fire came near and they used some CGI to bring this magic moment to the screen. CGI was also surprisingly used for the dogs - not to create them but to make them look a bit nastier than they actually were! The movie is definitely not a CGI film - while it is used in some scenes for details, the majority of the impressive effects we see were done practically! How did they pull off the garbage truck dress shipping behind Stone like a snake? As for the secret behind making the large dress Stone wears on top of a car - over five thousand individual, hand-sewn petals! Anyone else bobbing their head to the soundtrack?
